Succeed As An EBay Affiliate

EBay was created in September 1995 by Pierre Omidyar. EBay, an online marketplace, was one of the first websites of its kind in the world. The site was originally named AuctionWeb. The name 'eBay' came from the domain Omidyar used for his site. His company's name was Echo Bay. The first thing ever sold on eBay was Omidyar's broken laser pointer for $14.

It didn't take EBay long to became massively popular. Sellers began listing all sorts of odd things and buyers actually bought them. The site could almost be left alone to run itself. EBay had been designed from the start to collect a small fee on each sale. When the fees became more than Omidyar's current salary, he decided to quit his job and work on the site full-time. In 1996, to make buying and selling safer, he added feedback facilities to let buyers and sellers rate each other.

In 1997, Omidyar changed AuctionWeb's name to eBay. He spent a lot of money on advertising and had the eBay logo designed. It was in this year that the one-millionth item was sold.

EBay became a massive site with people selling more than just collectibles. You could sell anything, large or small. In 1998 eBay became big business.

In 1999 eBay went worldwide with sites being launched in Australia, the UK and Germany. EBay bought half.com, an Amazon-like online retailer, in the year 2000. The same year it introduced Buy it Now. In 2002 eBay bought PayPal.

Pierre Omidyar has earned an estimated $3 billion from eBay and still serves as Chairman of the Board. All over the world, millions of items are bought and sold every day on eBay. It is estimated that $14 is spent on eBay for every $100 spent online worldwide.

Now that you know the history of eBay, perhaps you'd like to know how it could work for you? People are making great money from eBay. It isn't unusual to hear of people making thousands of dollars per month. Even if you don't want to quit your job and really go for it, you can still use eBay to make a significant second income.

Remember, there is always someone who wants what you're selling. Since they come to you, you don't even need to do anything to get them to buy it. If you can post things, you can do it. EBay tears down the barriers that the real world constantly puts up. EBay does not care who you are, where you live, or what you look like. You can forget the job interview and forget the commute.

Selling on eBay – Getting Connected

So you're starting your eBay business? That's awesome. And as I've said many times before, I think that eBay is the fastest and easiest way to get started selling online. No other website can even touch the $60 billion marketplace that is eBay.

However, what many beginners forget is that in order to be successful online, you can't be a lone ranger. Sure you can run a successful eBay business from your home, but if you're in business, you'll have to connect with other businesses. To get the maximum profits, it's likely that you'll have to deal with other big businesses that aren't home based.

The best way to get what you want in life is to help other people get what they want. From the moment you start your business, you need to remember that you are only in business as long as you're helping your customers. What's the quickest way to see if you're helping enough people? Check how much money you have in your bank account. If your bank balance is low, then you're not helping many people. If you want to grow your bank balance, you need to help more people.

So what's the best way to help and connect with people? Get out there. Talk to local store owners. Go to business luncheons in your community. Carry your business cards around with you everywhere. Let everyone know that you sell on eBay, not just friends and family.

The more you get connected with people in your community, the more opportunities you have for you to help them (and them to help you). Think about businesses that you could help. Could you help them sell excess inventory? Are there other local businesses that need help to sell their products online? What about individuals that may need their antiques sold? When you start looking around, you'll see opportunities all around you.

The bottom line? Get connected with people. The more connections you make, the more people you can help. The more people you can help, the more successful you'll become.

Never Run Out Of eBay Products

Let's say you're just getting started on eBay. You've opened up your account and now you're looking for something to sell. If you've already followed our advice to sell the stuff around your house you may be wondering what to sell next. Sure, your attic and closets may be clean, and you've gotten rid of the clutter, but now what?

The lifeblood of your eBay business is products. If you have no products to sell, you're not in business. So, how would you like an unlimited supply of products when you're getting started?

If so, then you should consider becoming an eBay Trading Assistant. A Trading Assistant is someone who "assists" another person sell an item on eBay. This means that you'll take care of everything related to selling for that other person. You'll take the pictures, write the descriptions, set the pricing and everything. So if your Aunt Gertrude wants you to sell her antiques on eBay, the you'll be a Trading Assistant to her.

Now since your Aunt Gertrude is so dear to you, you might do this for free. For other people in your community, you'd likely charge them a commission for your time and energy. Or, you could buy their products and resell them yourself.

It's really that simple to have an unlimited supply of products. Everyone you can think of has something extra cluttering up their house. Why not help them get rid of it (and help yourself in the process)? eBay estimates that most people have over $1000 worth of items around the house that are being unused. You can easily see that tapping into this for just a few people will keep you busy for weeks to come.

Now if you choose to be a Trading Assistant, there are two ways to do it. First, you can do it the "official way" by registering on eBay. This allows you to be listed in the eBay Trading Assistant directory, but in order to do this, you need to meet a few requirements. You need to have a feedback score of 100 with 98% positive feedback, have sold 10 items in the previous 3 months, and have your eBay account in good standing. For more information, you can go to www.tradingassistant.com.

If you don't meet eBay's requirements, however, don't let that discourage you. You can still be a Trading Assistant "unofficially." eBay can't stop you from helping other people sell on eBay. The only real difference between being "offical" or "unofficial" is whether or not you can use eBay's official Trading Assistant logo and be listed in the directory of Trading Assistants (so others can go onto eBay and find you). But regardless of whether you choose to be official or not, it's always up to you to find who you can help.

Here are some ways you can promote yourself as a Trading Assistant. First, get the word out. Ask your neighbors if they have anything to sell on eBay. Talk to your friends about it. The more people know that you are the guy (or gal) to go to for selling on eBay, then the more products you'll have to sell. You can also post flyers around town, or put a classified ad in the paper advertising your services.

So what's the conclusion? There's really no end of products you can sell when you become a Trading Assistant. You'll be the person everyone turns to when they have a question about eBay.

Investing In Foreclosures – Get Incredible Deals on Foreclosed Properties At Government Auctions

It's no secret that homeowners are having a more difficult time than ever paying off their mortgage. As this increases, the amount of them entering the foreclosure process is soaring. If you're interested in real estate investing, this is the perfect opportunity for you to profit handsomely. Your greatest success will always be picking up a house in the pre-foreclosure process but government auctions are the next best alternative to finding real estate that will prove to be a high return on investment.

During the foreclosure process, homeowners have an opportunity to avoid going through an auction. But if they're not able to get to this point, the property will be handed over to the county Sheriff who will be responsible for holding the auction. Then, any revenue generated from that auction will go towards the mortgage balance as well as other expenses associated with the property.

If you're ready to take on the risk associated with investing in these foreclosures, the best place to start looking is online government auction notification sites. While the actual auctions will be held at a local courthouse, you can find out about them in advance through these notification services.

This helps you out because if you were to contact the county Sheriff directly, you probably wouldn't get too much help on the information you'll need as an investor. But by using these services, you can find out more details about the house to help you do the proper research required to make sure you're investing wisely.

Due diligence is always going to be your safest bet when investing in foreclosures. Signing up with an online government auction site gives you a firsthand look at the properties that will be up for auction. You'll then be able to do your research and find out if there are any liens, taxes, or debts associated with the property. You don't want to invest and then realize your money has gone down the train.

Seized property auctions are taking place near you all the time. Don't miss out on the opportunity to pick up a cheap property with a high return on investment. Visit BestGovernmentAuctionAlerts.info to start getting the inside scoop on investment properties that could make you rich.

How To Find Your eBay Niche

After you've gained some experience selling on eBay, you need to ask yourself what product category you want to focus on. Since you can buy and sell almost anything on eBay, there are hundreds of thousands of options to choose from.

Back just a few short years ago, I was getting started. I didn't know what I wanted to sell. How did I decide? Well, let me tell you a bit about me. I'm a gadget geek. I know what electronics are going to come out before they do. I watch the gadget blogs. I keep tabs on what Apple is doing, and know when they are going to upgrade their iPhones. It's a hobby of mine.

It's a natural progression for me to go from looking at the latest and greatest gizmos to start to sell consumer electronics on eBay. Some of the first items I sold on eBay were electronics related. A PlayStation 2, an old Gameboy and other computer games. I knew that electronics was my forte. Soon (after clearing out the house from sellable electronics and random items) we found an electronics wholesaler. We started to sell webcams and other computer accessories. We still sell some of the same types of products to this day.

How does this story help you? Ask yourself... what do you like? Selling what you like will make your research and product buying a whole lot easier. Remember that whatever product category you choose to sell in, you'll be spending a lot of time working and figuring out what to sell. If you sell the types of products that you're already interested in, then the "work" of talking to suppliers and researching will be easier. (An added bonus is that if you sell what you like, you can always have one for yourself.))

Now, if you're just getting started on eBay, you need to realize that nothing is fixed in stone. If you have no idea what you like or what you could sell on eBay, the main thing to do is get started. Choose a category that you think you can develop. You can always change later if you don't know for sure. The main goal is to get moving forward.

Think about an airplane taking off from an airport. Does it always take off in the exact direction that it will end up? No. Most planes take off not pointed in the direction they eventually want to go, but when they are in the air, the pilot can make course adjustments. This applies to your business as well. Don't worry if you take off in a different direction than you want to go. The main point when you're a beginner is to get off the ground, and you do this by selling whatever you can at first. Once you're in the air, then you can change the direction you're going.

The most important thing you can do as a beginner is to just get going. If you choose to travel in too many directions at once, you'll never get anywhere. Sell stuff around your house. Then once you've run out of stuff to sell, think about what you'd like to sell. Just choose something (maybe based on your hobbies) so you have a direction to move in.

You Can Make More Money On eBay Than Everyone Else

Where do I get profitable products? That's the big question when selling on eBay, and it might seem like the hardest question to answer. Maybe you've been frustrated when you have found products from a 'drop shipper' and found that the items sell on eBay for less than the 'wholesale price' that you could buy them for.

You won't be in business too long if you sell stuff for less than what you buy it for. You should always have a strategy to buy low and sell high, unless you have a plan to get more from a customer later to offset your initial losses. If you're a beginner, don't worry about that... just always sell items for more than what you buy them for.

Make sure that you don't fall into the 'drop shipping' trap. I've wasted hours hoping to find a good product in a drop-shippers' catalog without success. Yes, they have products that you can sell on eBay, but the key (as we just said) is selling them profitably. Most drop shippers just aren't profitable for you an eBay seller.

The real way to make money on eBay is to analyze what the big sellers are doing. How are they profitably moving inventory? You'll soon discover that selling eBay is very different than selling on most sites. Yes, people are looking for a great deal, but there's more you need to consider.

If you hopped on to eBay right now looking for a specific item, you would obviously research and try and find out where to get the best price. However, it gets to a point where you don't want to necessarily pay the lowest price because as the saying goes 'you get what you pay for'.

I know many people who think that if they are the cheapest price on eBay, they'll dominate the marketplace. They cut their prices until they are no longer in business. Remember that you're in business not just to give the best price, but the best overall buying experience (and to make a profit while you're at it).

So how do you avoid going out of business in a price-competitive marketplace? How do you compete?

There are a few different ways. It's a big step for a lot of people to purchase an item they've never held from a seller they've never seen before. In order to make people choose you over your competitors even if they have a lower price, you need to first draw in the customer to your listing. Many people search by the lowest price first, so you need to overcome that by drawing a person's eye away from that price tag and towards your killer gallery picture and ultra-relevant listing title. Once you can get that click you have a better chance of closing that buyer.

Once your customer makes the jump to your listing, they're going to decide whether they can trust you. Your feedback rating factors in here, but in addition to that is also the professionalism of your listing. You need to show that you're a quality seller that will provide the best customer experience.

How do you do this? Have a nice looking listing template, professional and clear policies, original pictures of your item, and a clear description that isn't just jargon ripped off of the manufacturers website.

Have you ever tried to buy something on eBay and wondered if the seller is legitimate? Have you wondered whether or not the seller would run away with your money? Now, step back into your shoes as a seller. You don't want any doubts in the mind of your buyers. Your buyers will be able to tell by how your listing looks whether you are a reputable seller or not. Buyers do business with sellers that they trust.

The first-impression carries the most weight. If you can set yourself apart from the crowd from the first time that people see you, then you'll have a competitive edge to selling on eBay.

Why Would You Want To Sell On eBay?

If someone offered you an entire business structure - the tools, the software, the website, the payment processor and most importantly, millions of customers ready and eager to buy your products, how much would you pay for that? Hundreds? Thousands?

The fact is that's what eBay is. It's the fastest and easiest way to have a web presence today and start making money online before the end of the week. You can literally have a complete eBay business structure set up that is selling products online in 30 minutes.

Maybe you're still skeptical. Well let me just tell you how huge eBay is. In 2008, over $60 billion dollars in merchandise was bought and sold worldwide. That's why they call it the world's largest marketplace, with over 90 million active members. What are the chances that one of those people might want what you're selling? Every single second of the year, about $2000 is sold. Do you think that eBay is a viable marketplace?

But how can you be a successful seller on eBay? Of the thousands of people that have taken advantage of eBay... only a few have great success. You can hear the stories of internet or eBay millionaires, but it's only a small percentage of the millions who have tried.

Why is that? The main reason is because the average person goes on eBay and instantly thinks that eBay will make them right overnight. Sorry to tell you, but that's not how business works. Building a business is a process that requires learning certain skills. You need to know how to provide a great product or service for your customer. The sellers who are making it big online are those who are focused on the customer first.

But don't think to yourself that the people that are making money on eBay are any different than you, or somehow they're entitled to it and you're not. Yes there are things you will need to learn, but remember everyone starts at the beginning and nobody is born an Olympic athlete.

The best part about eBay is the minimum amount of risk you need to take to get started. Think of all the brick and mortar businesses that spent thousands of dollars in startup capital only to go bankrupt in a few years. You don't need to rent office or warehouse space, and you don't need to start hiring dozens of employees.

Other than a computer, an internet connection and a digital camera, there isn't much needed to get started selling on eBay. Of course with time you will need to develop a line of inventory to sell, but if you learn the right way, you can easily cover your inventory costs and keep cash flow moving through your eBay business.

The reason why eBay is such a great opportunity today is because business models are changing. The barriers to start selling online are lower than they've ever been. Why wouldn't you want to start being your own boss? Thousands of people have taken the leap to make money online already, make sure you don't get left behind.

The fact is, with everything at your fingertips, there's no excuse. Get started today, and don't listen to the skeptics. Start learning from people who are already successful and you can find success too.

Fast Track Your eBay Business

When we were first learning how to sell on eBay, there's one thing more than any other that contributed to our success.

It was in our first year of "business" on eBay, meaning we had spent lots of time and money trying to learn how to start our eBay business but we didn't actually take any action yet.

(Isn't it funny how determined you can be to get started at something, and how you can learn everything about a subject... but it doesn't matter until you actually get started with it?)

We were learning from some top experts everything we could ever want about starting an eBay business, but we never took action to get started. We kept procrastinating and learning more and more without actually doing what was taught.

Not taking action is probably the biggest barrier you'll face when you want to start to make money online. Learning as much as you can about the topic makes you feel like you're accomplishing something. The more you learn, the closer you think you're getting to your goal. That's not true. The only way you'll get closer to your goal is to put in the work that is necessary to get you to your goal.

How do you break free from just learning and not doing? Let me share with you how we went from $0 to a profitable $3,000 a month eBay business in less than 60 days.

What was it? Well, our mentors created a contest. They said that the first person who could sell $1,000 in one month would win a cash prize.

I'm not saying that entering a contest is going to make you successful. It's much more than that. It wasn't about winning the prize or even what we were going to do with the prize money once we won. It was just a goal with a tangible outcome that we believed in and were determined to hit.

So we pushed for the contest. We pulled all the strings we could to start selling. We did more things that month than the previous six months combined. Long story short, we didn't even win the contest, but it set us up for something bigger than we could imagine.

We accomplished a greater goal than we thought possible. We were only a few bucks short of $1,000 that first month, and the following month we sold $3,000 and were actually turning a profit. We literally built an entire eBay business and money making system in less than 60 days.

So what does this mean for someone who wants to learn how to sell?

It means that if you've been struggling to get started, then you need to change the way you think. The greatest thing you can do to guarantee your success is to have an attitude of commitment. It's really amazing what you can achieve when you're absolutely certain that starting an eBay business will change your life. It won't matter what the economy is doing... you'll be making a passive income for yourself.

Now, keep in mind it's not all going to happen overnight. You're not a sprinter, you're a marathon runner. You need to have training from someone who can be your coach. Just like an athlete only improves if they train, you need to train for selling on eBay. Follow the training to the letter.

Always remember that success leaves a trail. If you follow in the footprints of someone who is making money online, you can be a success as well.

Just Getting Started On eBay – A Basic Overview

You have probably seen the advertisements on TV and on the Internet about people learning how to make money on eBay. Learning how to sell on eBay is not a get rich scheme. It requires hard work, but probably not as hard as you would have to work with a regular full time job. While you learn how to sell on eBay, don't quit your day job immediately. This is because it is going to take a little bit of time before your eBay business is making enough money to support your household expenses.

If you're looking to make a few hundred dollars or a few thousand dollars a month, it can be done. The great thing about eBay is that the more you put into it, the more you'll get in return. Learning to sell on eBay can be done in a few different ways. You could buy books or courses that teach you the basics on how to make money on eBay or you could try to learn on your own. Everyone is different, but I think the fastest way is to find a mentor or a step-by-step blueprint to follow. That's the way I got started.

The first thing that you want to do when selling on eBay is to make sure that you are selecting the right kind of stuff to sell. This involves researching what products sell the best. However, if you're making your first listings, just grab a few things around the house that you no longer want. These auctions will allow you to gain experience and build your customer service ratings.

Now you might be asking, "How do I research what's selling on eBay?" Here's how. First, search on eBay for the products you are interested in selling. Think about what is happening on eBay right now. Are there auctions up right now? Do they have bids on them? Is the product in high demand? By answering these questions, and figuring out which products are popular, you'll have a better idea of what you should sell. Each time you research products, you'll be a few steps closer to selling on eBay profitably.

When you've found a product you want to sell, make sure that your auctions have a bit of an edge over other sellers. For example, if you have the same product as 5 other sellers, what would make a buyer purchase from you? On eBay, many buyers are looking for a deal on the price. If you can price competitively lower, then you'll probably win. However, don't forget about your eBay fees. Leave yourself some profit margins and you'll be in business.

Although it might take a few months before you fully understand how to sell on eBay, don't get discouraged. You can do it, especially if you have a plan you can follow and a mentor who's been there. Before you know it, you'll be making money on eBay too, as another eBay success story.

Getting Started on eBay Simplified

eBay is a great place to start if you want to earn money online. It is a auction website that helps users sell their items and for buyers to find items they want. Extremely popular, eBay will help expose your items to many interested buyers daily. If you put a little thought and planning into your auction, you might make money easily. The steps listed will help you get going.

Step 1 is to find something to sell.

Cleaning and prepping your item for sale is the second step.

Snapping some good photos of your item is the third step.

Step 4 is to set up your auction

Step 1 is to find something to sell. This can be a very easy step for some people, but rather hard for others. When searching for something to sell, keep in mind that it doesn't have to seem extremely valuable to you. Many times things that seem like junk sell well. They should be in good condition. That means if they are very dirty, in disrepair, or broke then they should not be sold.

The second step is to prepare your item for sale. An item should be clean and refurbished as much as possible before moving on to step 3. When cleaning your items for sale, make sure you follow a cleaning method that is both safe for you and for the item. Items that have been cleaned up well sell much better than ones that haven't been cleaned.

Snapping some good photos of your item is the third step. You don't have to be a professional photographer or have that type of equipment. If you think through what photos will be most valuable to interested buyers, and shoot with enough light, then you should be fine. You need as much light as possible when taking the picture. Natural sunlight is preferred over artificial light. Take enough pictures that show the details of your item. You don't want a interested buyer wondering what the item looks like on a certain section.

Setting up your auction on eBay is the fourth step. If your item is clean and you have pictures, then you are ready to sell. Using eBay's selling tools will help ensure your auction looks nice and you have chosen the right selling price.

If you follow these 4 steps, you should have a great start at making money with eBay. You surely have some items lying around that you could sell. You might find yourself with some quick cash after all your items sell.

eBay is a great way to earn cash online. If you are interested in learning more about making money on eBay, check out MyMakeMoneyGuide.com for more information. It has great info on how to earn money online.
